Overview of the Study Program

The Aerospace Engineering program is an engineering program in which, in addition to fundamental scientific and mathematical competencies, engineering and application-oriented knowledge is acquired. During the Bachelor’s degree, questions and applications related to aerospace topics are already addressed. Nevertheless, the program is broad-based and can initially be regarded as a general engineering degree. Since the University of Stuttgart has had a Faculty of Aerospace Engineering with more than a dozen institutes since 1968, there are diverse specialization opportunities and industry contacts, especially in the Master’s program. The program thus offers very good prospects on the job market, not only in the aerospace industry but also, for example, in the automotive industry, general mechanical engineering, renewable energies, and more. Structure of the Study Program

Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Stuttgart

The University of Stuttgart is one of the few universities in Germany with its own Faculty of Aerospace Engineering. It consists of several institutes specializing in a wide variety of basic and application-oriented fields. The tradition of aerospace-specific disciplines in Stuttgart dates back to 1911 and has already produced a large number of outstanding scientists. Particularly noteworthy are activities in the areas of thermodynamics, aerodynamics, mechanics, aircraft design, aerospace systems, aerospace propulsion, aerospace engineering, and control engineering.

Career Prospects

Currently, career prospects for graduates are very good. At the same time, we recommend not making a decision about studying based on criteria subject to short-term economic fluctuations, but rather focusing on your own interest. Graduates from Stuttgart, due to the broad-based education, typically find positions in a variety of industries and are by no means limited to the aerospace industry.

Structure of the University

This is an overview of the structure of the University of Stuttgart. The individual decision-making bodies and authorities are presented in more detail below. Students can exert equal influence in most bodies. Representatives are elected for 2 semesters in the summer semester.
