Freshman Weekend

Note on the mathematics preparatory courses: The EWOK overlaps with the last two days of the mathematics preparatory course. We still recommend that you go to EWOK. The contacts with your future fellow students will bring you much more for your studies than the two days of the preparatory course. These can also be made up online.

What is it about?

The beginning of the first semester is an eventful and exciting time. You meet so many new people, have to find your way around the university jungle, and most have to manage life on their own for the first time. To support you a little, the student council for aerospace engineering (FLURUS) organizes some introductory events in the first week (06. - 10.10.25).

But even before that, we will set off for the first-semester weekend! So you can get to know your new fellow students before your studies begin, make friends, emotionally prepare together for university, and enjoy a nice weekend. In your studies, it is enormously helpful to learn and work together. Also, as a team, it’s more fun and you can keep going better!

For EWOK, we have rented a hut in the Black Forest. There you will spend the weekend with 95 other first-semester students and some student council members from higher semesters. For the 3 days from Thursday, 2nd to Saturday, 4th October 2025 we have prepared an amazing program! We will, for example:

Preliminary Info:

  • Teambuilding
  • chill by the campfire
  • solve "engineering problems"
  • have enough free time
  • and possibly have a drink or two together :-)

It is quite possible that there will be no cell phone reception at the hut. Communicate this with your parents/friends/etc. so that they don’t worry if you don’t get in touch during the three days.

Schedule:

On Thursday, 02.10., departure is expected at 11:30 a.m. at the bus loop on Campus Vaihingen! (Universitätsstraße 34 on Google Maps)

On Saturday, 04.10., we will arrive back at the university around 3:30 p.m. (Times may still vary.)

 

 

What do I need to bring?

  • Board games (playing cards...)
  • Outdoor games (football, frisbee...)
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping mat
  • very warm clothing
  • personal items
  • good mood :-)
  • Spezi, beer, mulled wine and children's punch will be provided

How much does it cost?

The cost is 80 € per participant.
The following is included in the participation fee:

  • Accommodation
  • Bus rides from the university to the hut and back
  • Food
  • Water
  • Program

Registration:

Registration for EWOK 2025 starts on 01.09.2025 at 10 a.m. Participation is only possible from the age of 18.

Sale of study materials:

Almost all study materials can be found in our ILIAS folders. For the Master's program, there is a document overview indicating which documents are not available in ILIAS. These can be purchased as printed copies on site. Please send an email in advance to FSV@flurus.de, so we can make sure that someone is available. You can also call us spontaneously at 0711 685-60319 and ask whether someone is there.
