Akaflieg
Akaflieg is a student gliding club that not only flies but also develops innovative methods and advancements in aircraft construction. With us, you have the unique opportunity to gain practical experience that complements your studies and see an aircraft take shape under your hands. Using our self-built gliders, you can learn to fly and earn your glider pilot license for free. All in line with our motto: research – build – fly
Akamodell
AKAMODELL STUTTGART e.V. was founded in 1978 by students of the University of Stuttgart. At Akamodell, you have the opportunity to practically apply the knowledge gained during your studies when designing, building, and flying model aircraft in group or individual projects. Conversely – for example, in bachelor’s or master’s theses – model building at Akamodell can also provide insights that benefit your studies.
EUROAVIA
Euroavia is a voluntary, Europe-wide student initiative that fosters contacts between students themselves as well as between students and industry. Our network now spans 19 countries with 39 local groups. A passion for aerospace, having fun alongside your studies, and broadening your personal horizons are at the forefront for our members.
HyEnD
The student group HyEnD – Hybrid Engine Development was founded in 2006 with the goal of enabling students at the University of Stuttgart to work practically on rocket engines as part of their education. The group’s members develop, build, and fly experimental rockets, gaining insights into the overall design of a launch system as well as the design of various subsystems and components while still studying.
With the flight of the experimental rocket HEROS 3 to an altitude of 32.3 km, the students set a new European altitude record for student and amateur rockets in 2016, as well as a world record for student hybrid rockets. InVentus
“With the wind against the wind!” Students at the University of Stuttgart are developing a vehicle, the Ventomobil, which is powered solely by wind energy and can travel directly against the wind.
At the Aeolus Race in August 2008, the Ventomobil left the European competition far behind and, in addition to the award for the fastest vehicle, received prizes for the most innovative design and best public relations.
KSat
The student small satellite group at the University of Stuttgart (KSat e.V.) is an association of space-enthusiastic students who want to work beyond the atmospheric boundary during their studies. To that end, we plan and realize various space-related projects, such as experiments on sounding rockets or a CubeSat. Besides tons of fun, exciting tasks await you in the fields of construction, marketing, electrical engineering, computer science, simulation, and many others.

Rennteam
The Rennteam Uni Stuttgart was founded in 2005 by three motorsport-enthusiastic engineering students with the goal of participating in the international student engineering competition “Formula Student.” To this end, a Formula-style race car was developed and built the following year to compete at events across Europe and the USA.
Today, the Rennteam Uni Stuttgart is one of the most successful teams of all time worldwide in the world of Formula Student, and it strives to reaffirm this status every year.
With the discontinuation of the combustion engine class starting in the 2023/2024 season, Rennteam and GreenTeam were merged. Since then, they have been designing and building an electric race car together.
Excursions
FLURUS organizes excursions to companies in the aerospace industry and to the two major air shows in Berlin and Paris several times a year. To register for one of these excursions, you will receive an email via the semester mailing list a few weeks in advance. More information about the excursions can be found here.
